How to Record a Reading
Creating a New Reading
- Navigate to Readings – Click on Readings in the main navigation menu to go to your list of readings.
- Click “New Reading” – Click the blue “New Reading” button in the top right corner.
- Fill in Reading Details
Most of these fields are optional, but fill them in if you think they’ll be helpful:- Date and Time: when the reading took place. Defaults to now.
- Pro users only: Querent: Select from your list of querents, or choose “Self” for personal readings. If you’re not a pro user, in the database it will be marked as being for you. Bear in mind that if you’re using this software to provide paid readings to others, you must subscribe to the Pro plan.
- Title (Optional)
- Spread: Select the spread you’ll use for this reading (required to begin assigning cards). There are some spreads that this site provides for anyone who cares to use them, but you can also enter your own.
- Question (Optional)
- Overall Interpretation (Optional)
- Add Card Interpretations – Once you’ve selected a spread, you can assign cards to each position and add interpretations for each card’s position in the context of the reading. You only need to enter details specific to this reading. If you’ve entered per-card readings, these will appear without any effort on your part.
- Add Images (Optional) – You can upload up one or more images per reading, depending on your plan. Click “Browse…” to add JPG or PNG files (max 5MB per image).
- Choose Sources to Show (Optional) – Select which sources/references should be visible when this reading is shared. For example, out of the box, this site offers text from AE Waite. Some people aren’t fans of his writing. By unchecking the box next to that source, you can prevent those meanings from showing up.
- Choose to Share (Or Not) – You can allow anyone with the link to view, or keep it private.
- Save Your Reading – You have two options:
- “Save as Draft”: Save it without marking it complete. You can still share a work in progress. If you leave it as a draft, this software will remind you to finish it in the dashboard you see when you log in.
- “Mark as Completed”: We won’t hassle you about it again.
Editing an Existing Reading
To edit a reading you’ve already created:
- Go to the Readings section and find your reading
- Click on the reading to view it
- Click the “Edit” tab at the top left
- Make your changes and click “Update” to save
- You can save readings as drafts while you’re still working through the interpretation, then come back to refine them later. This can be helpful if you want to give readings time to settle before writing your final thoughts.
Viewing Your Readings as Seen by People You Share them With
When you check the box that marks a reading as shareable, they’ll see a more immersive view of your work than you see while you’re editing it. To access this view:
- View Your Reading – Click on a reading from your list of readings to view it in the public-facing format.
- Review What’s Visible – You’ll see:
- If you uploaded an image, you’ll see a header image across the top
- Reading date and time
- Spread name and description
- Question asked
- Overall interpretation
- Card positions with your interpretations
- References/sources you selected to show
- Your uploaded photos down the left sidebar
- Note What’s Hidden – Querents you share this reading with will NOT see:
- Any interpretations marked as “Draft”
- Sources you didn’t select to show
